Expressions of interest are invited from committed and experienced pastors or chaplains with a passion for Adventist Education. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to lead with vision, collaborate effectively, and inspire others as they lead the school chaplaincy team. This is a full-time position commencing January 2027.

Kempsey Adventist School (KAS)  is located on the beautiful Mid-North Coast of New South Wales, in a peaceful bushland setting on Dunghutti country between Crescent Head and Kempsey. The school serves the rural community of the Macleay Valley and seeks to be the hands and feet of Christ by providing a caring and supportive environment built on high expectations and positive relationships, enabling students to achieve their best.

KAS is a co-educational school at the heart of the local community, offering quality education in a Christian context from Pre-Kindy to Year 12.       

The successful applicant will:

• Model and nurture an active personal relationship with Jesus and be a baptised, practising member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
• An understanding and commitment to the purpose and ethos of Adventist Education and the Church as described by Adventist Schools Australia and our statements of belief Statements of Belief
• Hold relevant degree-level qualifications and ministry and/or chaplaincy experience.
• Lead and develop a high-quality, inclusive, vibrant, creative, relational and distinctly Seventh-day Adventist chaplaincy program across the school.
• Facilitate a strategic and engaging chaplaincy program that supports students, staff and families in their faith journey, fosters long-term faith commitments in partnership with surrounding Adventist churches, and leads discipleship across the school community.
• Collaborate closely with the school’s senior executive staff, chaplaincy team to ensure the effective daily operation of all ministry programs.
• Provide leadership and support to the chaplaincy staff, fostering a cohesive and mission-driven team environment.
• Apply strong interpersonal skills, grounded in emotional and social intelligence, to support effective ministry practices within a diverse P–12 community that includes non-Adventist and non-Christian students and their families.
• Ensure ministry programs align with learning programs to maintain continuity, relevance and long-term sustainability for all stakeholders.
• Partner with the Student Wellbeing faculty where chaplaincy and wellbeing responsibilities overlap, to provide coordinated frontline support.

Salary Range
Salary will be in accordance with the applicable Enterprise Agreement or Division Wage Schedule.
