The South Australian Conference Office is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Payroll Lead to join our Finance team.
As the administrative headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Australia, we provide support services to churches and schools across the state. This role plays an important part in ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll function.
About the Role
Serving those who serve our churches, schools, and communities.
The Payroll Lead is responsible for coordinating and supervising the fortnightly payroll process, ensuring payroll data is accurate, complete, and compliant. This includes reviewing payroll reports, variations, allowances, leave transactions and deductions, performing payroll reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining payroll records with a high degree of confidentiality.
The role also supports payroll reporting, audits, year-end requirements, employee enquiries, and the continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes, while assisting with other finance, administrative, and Church-related duties as required.
This position is offered as full-time and will commence in mid-July 2026.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar finance-related role.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgement.
- Current South Australian Working with Children Clearance.
- Legal right to work full-time in Australia.
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Diploma of Accounting, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience using payroll software and advanced Excel skills.
- Current South Australian Driver's Licence.
- Practising baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a commitment to its mission.
