Join the Division’s Ministry and Strategy Team to provide administrative support to the work of this dynamic, mission-focused team. Though we’re ideally looking for a full-time person, casual or part-time options will be considered.

The South Pacific Division (SPD) is the administrative head office of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and oversees the church’s work in the South Pacific island nations of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and other islands of the south pacific.

About Ministry & Strategy

The Ministry and Strategy Team (MST) exists to provide visionary and strategic leadership to the broader church as part of the South Pacific Division as well as collaborate and support the ministry work of the Church leadership in strategic initiatives. Areas of focus include discipleship, health, ministry innovations, stewardship as well as public affairs and religious liberty.  The team also liaise on behalf of the General Conference in traditional church ministries of Sabbath School, family, youth and children.

About the Role

In addition to providing high level administrative support to the MST directors, the role offers a variety of tasks and opportunities to support the ministry activities of the team. Some key focus areas include:

·       Assisting with the Alive in Jesus Sabbath School Curriculum rollout

·       Coordinating logistics and travel for the following exciting events and projects:

o   Division Strategy Summit in Fiji (September 2024)

o   Faith & Science Conference in Brisbane (May 2025)

o   MA in Youth & Family Ministries degree program

o   GC Family Ministries Leadership Certification online program

You will provide a wide range of administrative support to coordinate meetings, events, projects and travel, document preparation, records maintenance and be part of the inner workings of ministry across the South Pacific. Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Must be a practising, baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment and belief in the teachings, values, and mission of the Church.
  • Appropriate secretarial/office administrative support qualifications or similar.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in office administrative support or similar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise with excellent time management skills.
  • Well-developed people skills with the ability to connect and relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated.
  • High level of computer literacy and competency with Microsoft windows environment.

Preferred

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion.
  • Ability to prepare presentation and reports.
  • Working knowledge of the Seventh-day Adventist Church organisation and its operations throughout the South Pacific Division.
  • Previous office admin support experience in an Adventist employment context would be highly advantageous.

  • Must show evidence of current unrestricted work rights in Australia and be able to travel if needed.
