    The South Pacific Division (SPD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is seeking to fill the role of Assistant Manager for Corporate Services, which has become available as result of succession planning. The Assistant Corporate Service Manager has the dual role to care for the administration of both the Australasian Conference Association Ltd and corporate compliance alongside the Corporate Services Manager.

    Corporate Services is an advisory service provided by the South Pacific Division to all church field offices in the South Pacific region in relation to country specific regulatory matters and legal obligations. In addition it cares for certain specific day-to-day real and intellectual property transactions in a trustee capacity (under Australasian Conference Association Ltd) for all entities of the church, as well as formally liaising and reporting to government charity regulators, including monitoring compliance.

    As the Assistant Corporate Services Manager, you will assist the Corporate Services Manager with the activities of the department on corporate compliance, including managing the Caseware accounting software across the SPD and supporting and training users of the compliance software Folio. As the Assistant Manager, you will perform the company secretarial functions pertaining to the role in support of the Corporate Services Manager.

    This full-time role will report to the Corporate Services Manager and have indirect reporting from the Administrative Assistant. The position will work alongside the SPD Internal Legal Counsel and Internal Auditor to manage compliance.

    Selection Criteria:

    Essential

    • Must be a practising baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to the teachings, values, beliefs and mission of the Church, and eligibility to hold the appropriate church licence/credential.
    • Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting or law and relevant experience.
    • Hold current membership or nearing completion as a CPA or CA or equivalent.
    • A working knowledge and understanding of:
      • Corporations law and practice.
      • Taxation law and practice.
      • Contract law.
      • Accounting standards applicable in various nations of the South Pacific Division.
      • Legal aspects of real and intellectual property.
    • Working knowledge of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its governance structure throughout the South Pacific Division.
    • Sufficient knowledge to administer a company and its associated legal records.
    • Ability to use computers and information technology as required for the position.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

    Preferred

    • Working knowledge and understanding of denominational accounting practice would be an advantage.

    • Must show evidence of current Australian work rights.
