Seventh-day Adventist Schools (NNSW) Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Corporate Office team and provide high-quality financial support to our schools and their mission.

  • An understanding and commitment to the purpose and ethos of Adventist Education and the Church as described by Adventist Schools Australia and our statements of belief Statements of Belief
  • Hold appropriate accounting academic qualifications (degree level) and hold membership with a professional accounting body such as CPA or CA.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and practice and be able to provide advice and support to the other financial personnel.
  • Be familiar with the accounting processes associated with the preparation and presentation of monthly and annual financial education reports and ensure that these processes are being adhered to by the finance personnel.
  • Be computer literate and possess experience in the use of relevant computer-based accounting package(s) and have an Intermediate to Advanced level of proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software, and specifically the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet package.
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to maintain professional relationships with the local school finance and administration teams.
  • Be able to work to deadlines and under pressure and be able to motivate the finance team to do the same.
  • Be able to lead and collaborate in team settings.
  • Model a good work ethic and attention to detail to the finance personnel.
  • Must have a current driver’s license.
  • Committed to child safety by providing a safe culture, safe operations and a safe environment. Only applicants with a Working With Children Check (WWCC) will be considered for this role.
  • Legally able to work in Australia. This position is not linked to a sponsorship visa.

 

Specific Accountant Responsibilities:

  •  Directing and reviewing the preparation of the Consolidated Operating Statements, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow of the company and drafting reports and analysis for the Finance Manager.
  • Directing and reviewing the preparation of the Consolidated Operating Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow Forecasts of the company and provide analysis and advice to the Finance Manager.
  • Preparing the consolidated 3-year/10-year budget forecasts for the company.
  • Be responsible for CMF, CBA, ANZ and Westpac Banking Administrator for all the company bank accounts and corporate credit cards.
  • Reviewing the annual FBT Return prior to lodgement.
  • Conduct Internal Audits of school ledgers.
  • Managing the year end external audit with the Grant Thornton Audit Manager to ensure the audit is completed on time and on budget.
  • Manage and liaise with GCAS on Church Policy Compliance audits
  • Direct and manage the development of dashboard KPI reports.
  • Provide Data Analysis Reports as required.
  • Direct and manage the State and Commonwealth Census collation, reconciliation and report preparation as well as other compliance reporting as required by the Commonwealth and/or State.
  • Review and direct the allocation of System Charges.
  • Manage the annual Benchmarking process with Somerset.
  • Ad Hoc Special Projects as required.
  • School Finance Team Locum Support as required.
  • TechnologyOne and ProSpend Helpdesk Support and Management.
  • Supervision and training of accountants, assistant accountants and/or finance assistants within the Corporate Office.
  • Mentoring and training of bursars and other schools finance staff
  • Duties as assigned by the Director of Education, General Manager of Corporate Services, Assistant General Manager of Corporate Services or Finance Manager

Salary Range     

Salary will be in Accordance to the South Pacific Division Wage Schedule
