7 at Avondale is currently seeking Chefs for an opportunity to join the team on a full-time basis located on the grounds of Avondale University in Cooranbong.

This exciting role will have you in a busy kitchen that provides a cafeteria and café experience to the Avondale University community as well as the greater community.

What will you do?

Some of the main duties will include:

• Preparing and cooking meals for the cafeteria to be served “buffet style”
• Preparing café menu items, including but not limited to hot and cold beverages, pastries, and freshly cooked pizzas
• Preparing for and managing catered events and requests
• Supervising junior, casual, part-time & student staff   
• Monitoring and managing stock levels   
• Maintaining the kitchen and the food safety program
• Menu development & contribution to recipes
• Knowledge of food-related health and safety standards and regulations, ensuring compliance with these in kitchen operations.

To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about healthy, nutritious food and have the desire to work within a dynamic team.

Essential criteria

• Possesses a can-do attitude.
• Physically fit to meet the role's inherent physical demands.
• Ability and experience working as a part of a team
• Certificate III in Commerical cookery or equivalent working experience
• Ability to work a seven-day roster as well as split shifts and reasonable overtime as required
• Support the mission, values, and ethos of Avondale
