Term: Fixed -Term, full-time basis (12-month contract, with view to ongoing employment subject to review)

               About Camp Somerset

Camp Somerset is an Outdoor Education and Recreation Facility owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Queensland. Situated on 1,000 acres of bushland and rainforest on Somerset Dam, it offers a range of activities and accommodation options year-round. Guests can choose from comfortable cabins and lodges with resort-style pools or enjoy expeditions and camping at scenic waterfront or bush campsites.

 

About the role

This full-time Program Coordinator position offers variety and challenges as a leader in the Outdoor Programs

team at the facility, directly assisting the Senior Program Coordinator in all areas of running the Program 

Department. The successful applicant/s while not required to be a practicing member of the Seventh day Adventist Church must share a commitment to the Church’s mission and be prepared to support the ideals and beliefs of the church and be able to demonstrate good communication and relational skills to be able to co-operatively work with other staff and management of the camp to achieve positive outcomes for ministry on the site. They should possess or be able to obtain a Positive Notice Blue Card for Child Related Employment. dependent on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program scheduling and set-up
  • Maintaining and developing activity equipment, areas, and resources
  • Promote outdoor education programs
  • Communicate with current and potential clients about their activity and program needs
  • Assist in instructing activities and Camp Coordinating

 

Skills and Experience in the Outdoor Industry

  • Relevant, highly demonstrated, and current outdoor recreation skills and experience
  • 6 years or more experience in both expedition and centre-based programs
  • Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable
  • Administration skills

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation
