ADRA Australia is seeking an experienced and organised Op Shop Operations Facilitator to strengthen and support ADRA’s network of Op Shops across Australia.

ROLE PURPOSE

This field-based role is designed to directly support the performance and day-to-day operations of ADRA's Op Shop network, ensuring strong team support and leadership, excellent customer and donor experience, and efficient store operations aligned with ADRA's mission and values.

The Op Shop Operations Facilitator works closely with Op Shop Managers, volunteers, and relevant support teams to strengthen store operations, support implementation of Head Office initiatives, monitor performance, and identify practical improvement opportunities across the network.

The role also contributes to stronger social, financial, and environmental outcomes by helping Op Shops operate effectively, build local community connection, increase donation value, and support the circular economy through sustainable retail practices.

Key Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Directly overseeing 10 - 15 locations within your region, supporting and leading Store Volunteer Managers and the broader volunteer team on store operations, merchandising, and team performance

  • Drive sales performance through facilitating stock availability, visual merchandising, and local community engagement

  • Develop strong working relationships with ADRA Regional Managers who work with local churches for volunteer support

  • Lead and support in-store execution of Support Office initiatives to be delivered across stores Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire volunteers, donors, customers and internal stakeholders around a compelling Op Shop vision.

  • Monitor store performance and identify improvement opportunities

  • Ensure compliance with ADRA policies including but not limited to health, safety, and operational procedures

  • Assist with stock flow management including donation processing, pricing, and inventory rotation

  • Support recruitment of volunteers and provide on-the-ground support, training and leadership across your network of stores

Essential Criteria

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Commitment to the purpose of ADRA, and to the achievement of our overall strategy and priorities with demonstration of our ADRA values and desired team culture lived out in all aspects of work practice.

  • Willingness to work within a Christian ethos with conduct that is respectful of the beliefs and practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when in the workplace or otherwise representing ADRA Australia.

  • A related diploma/degree with considerable experience in retail leadership, multi-site operations, or field-based support roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to support and lead managers, staff, and volunteers in store operations, team performance, and service delivery.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse people and communities.

  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, and retention of staff and/or volunteers.

  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and identify practical improvement opportunities.

  • Practical experience using data management systems and reporting to monitor store performance and compliance.

  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across a network of locations.

  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, operational procedures, and organisational compliance.

Desirable Criteria

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Experience in the not-for-profit or social enterprise sector.

  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks relevant to retail or community enterprises.

  • Previous experience supporting dispersed teams across multiple sites.

  • Understanding of the circular economy and its role in community impact.
