Job description

Adventist Aged Care (Greater Sydney) (AAC), with an administrative office in Wahroonga and facilities in Hornsby and Kings Langley, is seeking a WHS Officer.

The WHS officer will be instrumental in creating a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting education and training, managing risks, conducting investigations, and fostering a proactive safety culture. 

The WHS officer’s work ultimately aims to minimize workplace injuries and enhance employee well-being and to ensure the organisation is compliant with legislation.  The WHS Officer will assist staff back to full duties after injuries.

Essential Skills

  • Sound knowledge of OH&S/WHS standards, principles and best practice
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to document and deliver content to staff/employees
  • Keen observation skills to monitor the safety performance of a workplace and identify risks or hazards
  • Strong problem-solving skills to suggest necessary changes to unsafe work conditions
  • Excellent organisation skills for all documentation related to workplace compliance and WHS program to educate staff/employees
  • A strong work ethic and ability to communicate and collaborate with others
  • Prepared to work in an organisation with high Christian and ethical values
  • Knowledge of Aged Care Act and Retirement Village Act (desirable)
