7 at Avondale is currently seeking an experienced Venue Manager to join the team on a full-time basis located on the grounds of Avondale University in Cooranbong.

This exciting opportunity will have you overseeing all operational aspects of the cafeteria and café experience for the Avondale University community and the greater community.

What will you do?

Some of the main duties will include:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the venue, including opening and closing procedures, maintenance requests, and cleaning.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the venue's safety, security, and smooth operation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed, ensuring adequate stock of essential items such as food, beverages, and cleaning supplies.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management, tracking expenses and revenue, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, clients, contractors, and suppliers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders.
  • Handle complaints and concerns professionally and on time, striving to exceed customer expectations and maintain positive relationships.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff.
  • Create staff schedules, assigning roles and responsibilities based on event and customer requirements and staff availability.
  • Provide feedback on staff performance and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and professionalism.
  • Monitor and facilitate various events, including corporate functions and community gatherings.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their event needs and preferences, providing personalised service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, staffing, catering, and vendor management.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced manager with effective communication skills and have the desire to work within a dynamic team.

Selection criteria

  • Proven experience in venue or hospitality management.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, staff, and vendors.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and hospitality venue software.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Flexibility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
