Sourcing Manager – Raw Materials

This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships to provide continuity of supply for all raw materials (excluding commodities) whilst ensuring savings and quality targets are achieved. The key responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Using corporate buying analysis to form strategic partnerships with suppliers to support long term mutually beneficial relationships whilst achieving operational targets.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, corporate, R&D, marketing, other sourcing managers and material schedulers to understand raw material needs and ensure on time delivery of agreed quality products.
  • Appropriately communicate supply agreements and supplier performance. This will be supported through the maintenance of SAP records including contracts, source lists and information records.
  • Achieve savings targets through value analysis, ethical negotiations, and implementation of supplier integration programs.
  • Monitor and continuously improve supplier performance using corporate appraisal systems whilst building a data base of suitable alternatives via cross functional evaluation.
  • Participate in new product development and project groups to ensure timely launches to budget.
  • Recognise suppliers as a resource and actively seek to maximise benefits for Sanitarium via ongoing management of cost down and supply improvement programs.
  • Harnesses industry and supplier knowledge to implement short, medium and long term strategies that deliver outstanding value whilst leveraging our growing company volumes and reputation as a customer of choice.
  • Work with other Sourcing Managers to leverage like spend across categories and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance to BRC standards for supplier portfolio.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance or a related field.
  • Proven experience, a minimum of 5 years in strategic sourcing and procurement, with a focus on raw materials (food). 
  • Experienced in commodity management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
