Role Description

Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Officer to join our Finance team at the Greater Sydney Conference. This is a Part-Time (0.5 FTE) role on a 12-month Contract. This position will provide clerical support services under the direction of the Education Accountant.

Qualifications Required

  1. Must be a practising baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to its mission. This would incorporate an active relationship with Jesus Christ characterised by a deep desire for worship and service to God.
  2. Working knowledge of the church and its operational management
  3. Appropriate qualifications and/or experience in a similar role

Selection Criteria

  1. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate the collection & dissemination of information, and the maintenance of a productive working relationship with others.
  2. Well organised and able to work to deadlines.
  3. Be computer literate and possess experience in the use of relevant computer-based accounting packages, such as Synergetic and SUN.
  4. Be pro-active in identifying potential workflow problems and suggest possible solutions as appropriate.
  5. Possess an eye for detail, having an ability to assess information critically, ensuring that outputs have a high level of accuracy.
  6. Possess a working knowledge of internal policies.
  7. Use initiative in dealing with day-to-day issues, and determine when to seek advice of superiors

Specific Responsibilities

Financial Operations

  • Accounts reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations
  • Bookkeeping for credit card transactions
  • Process accounts payable and maintain accounts payable system
  • Reconciliations of ledger to sub ledgers
  • School month end and year end tasks
  • Organising the documentations for the audit
     

General

  • Other duties and projects as and when required
