Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Limited is seeking a full time School Counsellor with suitable experience and training to work full-time at Hills Adventist College. You will work to support students, their families and school staff through counselling, groups programs and contributing to the wellbeing culture of the school. 

As a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Limited staff, you will join a passionate team committed to the achievement of a strategic plan designed to strengthen our schools to achieve our mission to ‘Reveal Jesus’ to all our students.   It is preferable that the successful applicant be a baptised and practising member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, or a practising Christian sympathetic to the unique Seventh-day Adventist identity of the school.

Location

Hills Adventist College (Kellyville Campus, NSW)

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualification/training in Counselling
  • Experience in providing counselling services addressing emotional and/or behavioural needs to children and adolescents, and their families, and to At-Risk students
  • Experience in facilitating evidence-based group wellbeing or mental health programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current NSW Child Protection Legislation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child/adolescent development and mental health issues
  • The ability to undertake the duties of the role in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values and its Code of Ethics and Conduct of Sydney Adventist Schools
  • Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory organisation for your profession.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to work collaboratively with a team and engage with multiple stakeholders
  • The ability to work independently, a willingness and capacity to take initiative and to manage a full counselling caseload
  • A current Working with Children Check clearance and Police Check.

And who may also have:

Demonstrated understanding and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients
Experience in delivery of group work and presentations, and the capacity to develop and deliver social/emotional education to staff and parents.
