Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Greater Sydney) Limited is seeking a dedicated General Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Hills Adventist College. This is a casual position. As a member of the Hills Adventist College staff, you will join a team committed to the pillars of Caring, Serving, Learning and Growing Spirituality.

Hills Adventist College is a Pre-School to Year 12 College owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The College aims to provide a quality Christian education to students from all religious and cultural backgrounds. Application Requirements

The work of the Casual General Maintenance Assistant is essential to the operation of the College. The appointee will assist the Campus & Facilities Manager in caring for the maintenance and continuous improvement of College assets, buildings, gardens and grounds to provide a safe, visually appealing environment for staff and students. Compliance with relevant WH&S and other applicable regulations and standards is assumed.

The successful applicant must have a current Working with Children Check. It is preferable that the successful applicant be a baptised and practising member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, or a practising Christian sympathetic to the unique Seventh-day Adventist identity of the school.

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to the College Staff Code of Conduct.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position or in general property maintenance.
  • Ability to perform work to a high standard, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Have the capacity to manage the physical expectations of the role.

Desired Criteria

  • Trade qualifications at Certificate III or equivalent
  • WH&S training
  • Driver’s license

Specific Responsibilities

  • Using ride-on and push mowers to mow lawns
  • Using whipper snipper and hedging shears to trim foliage
  • Using backpack blower to blow leaves and debris from around buildings
  • Using a water pressure sprayer to clean footpaths and buildings
  • Moving and emptying bins using a bin lifter and picking up stray rubbish to ensure the campus is clean & tidy
  • Maintenance of gardens (eg weeding, pruning, watering, spraying, fertilising & mulching)
  • Assisting with movement of deliveries to different areas of the school
  • Assisting the Campus & Facilities Manager with general maintenance and repair duties
  • Other tasks as requested by Campus & Facilities Manager
