The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SPD) Limited are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Risk Management Service (RMS) team as a Risk Officer – Support. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, management, and resolution of risks within a supportive and collaborative environment.

As the Risk Officer – Support, you will work closely with a team of professionals, providing support across a variety of areas including insurance, risk management frameworks, loss resolution, and data analysis. This full-time role offers the chance to work with church organisations and a range of stakeholders, ensuring that risk management processes are effectively implemented and maintained.

Risk Management Service is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and dedicated to helping the church manage all types of risks and administering its insurance programs in Australia, New Zealand, and most of the South Pacific islands.

Selection criteria

Essential
  • Practising Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to its mission, lifestyle, and values
  • Maintain membership with relevant professional organisations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Well-developed computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to analyse data efficiently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required, current passport and Australian driver’s licence.
  • Commitment to Professional Development: A strong desire to obtain industry-specific qualifications, including the ANZIIF Diploma of Loss Adjusting
Preferred
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the Church and its management throughout the SPD.
  • Tertiary qualified in Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or Information Technology with 5 or more years’ experience in risk management, finance or similar roles.
  • Ability and willingness to read, understand and communicate technical insurance policy and legal documents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the implementation of risk management systems and solutions including Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Knowledge and understanding of work health and safety principles and requirements.
