Part Time Contract 15 hours per week

Position Summary

To provide administrative and communications support to the Avondale Memorial Church and Pastoral team

Duties and Responsibilities

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Administrative Assistant will:

1.       Act as initial contact for incoming phone calls and visitors, assisting church members in communicating with the Pastoral team

2.       Provide agenda items to the Pastoral team for Board and Business meetings

3.       Format and email meeting agendas, minutes, and other communication to church members

4.       Work with Church Secretary to update church member details and church position lists as required

5.       Create social media advertising for church Facebook group and flyers for events

6.       Maintain records including archiving and shredding documents with personal information

7.       Manage facility bookings

8.       Prepare, proof-read, print and organise distribution of the church Bulletin

9.       Email church Bulletin to church members

10.   Collect and distribute mail from the post office and letterbox on Freemans Drive

11.   Photocopying

12.   Record income and maintain petty cash

13.   Record printing of music for CCLI or OneLicence

14.   Record orders for DVDs

Eligibility Requirements

·         Meet Adsafe requirements including WWCC and national Police check

·         Certificate in business administration and/or demonstrated experience in a similar role

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills with the capacity to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures

·         Accurate and systematic approach to work with the ability to prioritise competing tasks

·         Intermediate level computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, specifically MS Word, Excel and Publisher

·         Excellent attention to detail

·         Strong editing, formatting, and proof-reading skills

·         Ability to complete basic design work

·         Cash handling and receipting experience

·         Excellent organisational and time management skills

·         Ability to maintain a customer service focus

·         Ability to work autonomously and effectively within a team

·         A commitment to the teachings, beliefs and values of the Seventh-day Adventist church


Employment Period

To be hired on a 12-month contract @ 15 hours per week
