Casual Maintenance Assistant – Macarthur Adventist College (Macquarie Fields)

Macarthur Adventist College is a Pre-School to Year 12 College owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The College aims to provide a quality Christian education to students from all religious and cultural backgrounds.

The work of a maintenance assistant will be to work under the direction of the Groundskeeper and will support the effective maintenance of the college campus

Looking for hardworking energetic person to assist with grounds keeping and maintenance role in growing school. This is a varied role that would suit a fit and proactive person as it can be physically demanding at times as well as working in all weather conditions. Experience in similar roles would be advantageous but not essential. 

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

Maintenance Assistant

  • Hand weed and spray control of weeds 
    Mulching garden beds 
    Mowing, line trimming, hedging 
    Construction of new gardens and landscape areas 
    Ensure grounds are clean and tidy 
    General maintenance duties including changing of lights, installing things on walls, patch repair and paint, light plumbing tasks etc 

Desirable Experience: 

  • Use of lawn and garden equipment including push and ride on mowers, line trimmers and hedgers. 
    Use of general construction hand and power tools 
    Maintenance experience 
    The role will be required to work on a casual basis, 7:00am – 3:30pm 3 days a week during school term time only.

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to the mission, values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
    A current Working With Children Check clearance.
    A current First-Aid Certificate or be prepared to undertake obtaining one.
    Commitment to the College Staff Code of Conduct.
    A strong work ethic.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral.
    Organisational proficiency and high attention to detail.
    Ability to work effectively under pressure and to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
    Have the capacity to manage and perform the physical expectations of the role.
    Ability to perform work to a high standard.
    Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft suite of products.
    Abide by all relevant WHS policies and protocols.

Interviews are expected to take place week beginning Tuesday 31 January.

An ideal start date is Monday 6th February 2023 where possible.
