Avondale University has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Human Resources Graduate to join our People and Culture team for a 2.5 year fixed-term contract.  

The People and Culture Graduate provides an exciting opportunity to kick start your career in a generalist HR role. This means you will be involved in providing support across the full range of People and Culture functions. You will develop solid experience in the operational aspects of HR and will also gain exposure to the more strategic functions.  

 

About the role Some examples of what you will be doing include:

  • Maintain the People and Culture information systems (payroll, Personnel Service Records, organisational spreadsheets).
  • Assist with researching, reviewing and developing People and Culture policies.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Job Descriptions.
  • Coordinate end to end recruitment and selection processes including: advertising, sending out letters of advice to applicants, arranging interviews, and processing appointment requests.
  • Assist with on-boarding processes such as contract preparation and processing, and induction.
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of training and development.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to staff and payroll on issues relating to policy, services and procedures, conditions of employment, and the enterprise agreement.
  • Exposure to, and assistance with other people and culture processes such as performance management, grievance resolution, return to work coordination, workforce planning and culture initiatives.

  About you We are looking for someone with:

  • Completion of a Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management or related discipline within the last 12 months.
  • Supportive of the mission, values and ethos of Avondale.
  • Demonstrated high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think analytically to solve problems and convert theoretical knowledge into practical solutions.
  • Ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to act in a confidential and sensitive manner. 
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to provide high level customer-focussed service.
  • Effective management, teamwork and autonomous work skills.
  • Ability to identify risk to health and safety and promote a safe working environment.
