Brief description of role

Adsafe is a service of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific Division. Adsafe provides protective services for children and vulnerable adults across Seventh-day Adventist entities in Australia, New Zealand and the wider South Pacific region.

 

The role of the Senior Case Officer for Survivor Services is to provide case management services for survivors of abuse, professional mentoring and practice supervision to colleagues and delivery of training. Case management services involves facilitating referrals to external counselling for survivors and their family members, providing information about legal or restorative justice pathways to survivors and their families, being the point of contact for a survivor throughout investigations or other legal processes, and being Adsafe’s point of contact for survivors of abuse.

 

Based in New Zealand. Specific location yet to be determined. This will be full-time, 1 year fixed-term contract, reporting to the Team Leader of Survivor Services and Redress.

 

Essential Criteria

1.             Supportive of the values, beliefs and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

2.             Relevant tertiary qualification such as social work, social sciences, counselling psychology, human services or equivalent. 

3.             Knowledge and experience in working with victims of sexual and physical abuse

4.             Strong understanding of case management principles, trauma and its impact on survivors, and demonstrated experience in trauma-informed case management. 

5.             High level interpersonal and written communication skills, including ability to influence, negotiate and relate to people at various levels within the Seventh-day Adventist Church and other external organisations.

6.             High level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information. 

7.             Proven leadership, communications and people management skills. 

8.             Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure. 

9.             Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as to work co-operatively within a team environment. 

10.          Ability to think strategically and contribute to strategy development.

11.          Demonstrated ability to manage varying and/or conflicting stakeholder demands.

12.          Provide leadership in the delivery of clinical services including conducting psychosocial assessments of clients and facilitating referrals to counselling and support services.

13.          Hold a current driver’s licence.

14.          Capacity to travel within New Zealand and to Australia as required.

15.          Computer literacy particularly with Microsoft office suite. 

16.          Willingness to undergo a Ministry of Justice criminal record check.

 

Desirable Criteria

1.             A working knowledge and understanding of the church and its management throughout the SPD.

2.             Previous experience in a faith-based organisation highly regarded.

3.             Tertiary qualifications in teaching, adult education, and/or 3+ years recent experience in a training position.

4.             Experience in delivering training.

5.             Ability to develop and/or adapt training materials and resources.

6.             Experience with online training/learning platforms, with an ability and willingness to gain/maintain proficiency in options to deliver online training.
