    Brief description of role

    Adsafe is a service of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific Division. Adsafe provides protective services for children and vulnerable adults across Seventh-day Adventist entities in Australia, New Zealand and in time, the wider South Pacific region.

     

    The role of the Case Officer for Survivor Services is to provide case management services for survivors of abuse. This involves facilitating referrals to external counselling for survivors and their family members, providing information about legal or restorative justice pathways to survivors and their families, being the point of contact for a survivor throughout investigations or other legal processes, and being Adsafe’s point of contact for survivors of abuse.

     

    Based at the South Pacific Division head office in Wahroonga NSW, this will be part-time, 1 year fixed-term contract, reporting to the Team Leader of Survivor Services and Redress.

     

    Essential Criteria

    1.             Supportive of the values, beliefs and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

    2.             Relevant tertiary qualification such as social work, social sciences, counselling psychology, human services or equivalent. 

    3.             Strong understanding of case management principles and demonstrated ability to provide ethical, trauma informed, flexible and client-centred case management.

    4.             Demonstrated experience in child protection trauma-informed case management, and the impact of trauma on survivors of abuse. 

    5.             High level interpersonal and written communication skills, including ability to influence, negotiate and relate to people at various levels.

    6.             High level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information. 

    7.             Proven communications and people management skills. 

    8.             Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure. 

    9.             Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as to work co-operatively within a team environment. 

    10.          Demonstrated ability to manage varying and/or conflicting stakeholder demands.

    11.          Capacity to travel within NSW and interstate as required.

    12.          Computer literacy particularly with Microsoft office suite. 

    13.          Willingness to undergo a National Criminal History check.

     

    Desirable Criteria

    1.          A working knowledge and understanding of child protection in a religious context. 

    2.          Experience in providing advice on the implementation of child protection compliance. 

    3.          Previous experience in a religious, Not-for-Profit or charitable organisation highly valued.
