POSITION VACANT

Payroll Officer – Seventh-day Adventist Aged Care (South Queensland) Limited

A permanent full-time position is available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Aged Care Finance team based at Head Office, Spring Hill, Brisbane. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the role coordinates and controls the organisation's fortnightly payroll across Residential Aged Care, Home Care and Head Office, ensuring payroll information is complete, accurate and ready for processing by our external payroll consultant.

The Payroll Officer is the central Head Office contact for roster officers, Home Care roster coordinators, and the external payroll consultant. The role validates roster and employee data, reviews processed payroll and bank files, coordinates corrections and completes payroll-related remittances, reporting and employee support.

Working in our Aged Care finance ministry team is a rewarding opportunity supporting a core valued ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. While desirable, it is not essential that the applicant be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; however, they will need to support the professional expectations and values outlined in the Position Description.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate fortnightly payroll cut-offs and validate roster, time, leave and employee-change information across RAC sites, Home Care and Head Office, following up exceptions before payroll processing.
  • Maintain Head Office rosters and accurate payroll records for onboarding, employment changes, terminations, deductions, bank details, cost centres and other approved employee changes.
  • Liaise with the external payroll consultant, review payroll outputs and material variances, coordinate corrections, reconcile the payroll and bank file, prepare the approval pack and upload the authorised bank file.
  • Complete or coordinate adjustment pays, STP, PAYG, superannuation, salary packaging / Paywise, deductions and other payroll remittances, together with WorkCover payroll administration and recoveries.
  • Support payroll queries, month-end wage and leave costings, long service leave information, FBT and audit requirements, and payroll / rostering system testing, procedures and continuous improvement.

Application Requirements

The successful applicant will have:

  • At least two years' demonstrated Australian payroll administration or Payroll Officer experience; multi-site, aged care, health or community services experience will be highly regarded.
  • A working knowledge of Australian payroll requirements, National Employment Standards, awards or enterprise agreements, PAYG withholding, superannuation and payroll record obligations.
  • Experience coordinating payroll with an outsourced provider or external consultant, including roster and employee-data validation, payroll review, reconciliations and correction cycles.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and payroll / rostering system skills; experience with RostCare, PayCare, SAP or comparable systems is desirable.
  • High standards of accuracy, confidentiality and internal control, with strong communication, problem-solving and deadline-management skills in a time-critical payroll environment.
