Accounts Receivable and Billing Officer- Seventh day Adventist Aged Care (South Queensland) Limited
A permanent full-time position is available for an experienced Accounts Receivable and Billing Officer to join our Aged Care Finance team based at Head Office, Spring Hill, Brisbane. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the role is responsible for the day-to-day end-to-end billing and accounts receivable function across Residential Aged Care and Independent Living / Retirement Living services.
The role manages resident financial records from admission or entry through to departure, settlement or estate finalisation, and works closely with residents, families, site teams and Finance to ensure billing, payments and account matters are accurate, timely and handled with care.
Working in our Aged Care finance ministry team is a rewarding opportunity supporting a core valued ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. While desirable, it is not essential that the applicant be a practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; however, they will need to support the professional expectations and values outlined in the Position Description.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Prepare and review Residential Aged Care and Retirement Living invoices and statements, apply approved fee changes and adjustments, and maintain accurate resident financial records.
- Process and allocate receipts, direct debits, EFTPOS, PayWay, Centrelink and other payments, including investigation of rejected, reversed or unidentified transactions.
- Monitor debtor ageing, follow up overdue accounts, resolve credits and overpayments, and manage deceased resident and estate accounts in liaison with families, solicitors and representatives.
- Support RAD/RAC accommodation administration, annual resident statements and accommodation refunds, maintaining complete records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Maintain billing and resident data in eCase and related systems, complete assigned user-acceptance testing, and work with site and Finance teams to resolve billing issues and improve processes.
Application Requirements
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated experience in accounts receivable, billing or a similar finance role; aged care, retirement living, health or community services experience will be highly regarded.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret fee schedules, contracts and billing instructions and apply them consistently.
- Confidence using client management / billing and finance systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with eCase, ERAD/NERA, SAP Business ByDesign or PayWay is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain sensitive financial matters respectfully to older people, families and other stakeholders.
- Strong organisation and follow-through, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality, internal controls and a collaborative can-do approach.
